Chapter 28: Q. 28.13 (page 779)
Describe the fundamental difference between ion-exchange and size-exclusion chromatography.
Short Answer
The ion exchange is the oldest technique of liquid chromatography used for separation. Whereas, the size-exclusion is the newest technique of the liquid chromatography used for the separation. The ion-exchange separation technique is based on the charge of molecules. And the size-exclusion separation technique is based on the size and shape of molecules.
