Step 1- Lattice energy positive charge

Both Al(OH)3and NaOHare ionic compounds, but because lattice energy is related to ionic charge, Al(OH)3 has higher lattice energy compared to NaOH. For Al+3 and OH, the attraction of water molecules is insufficient to overcome the greater lattice energy, and hence Al(OH)3 is insoluble, whereas for NaOH, the hydration energy is sufficient to overcome the tiny lattice energy, and so NaOH is soluble.

Step 2- Positive charge:

The more the charge on the ion, the greater is the electrostatic attraction for each other and the more is difficult for the water to pull them apart, and hence NaOH is more soluble than Al(OH)3.
